Hunter and I planned for him to propose right when we all arrived on site because it was extremely hot this day and they would be dressed up initially! AND because I can only discretely stalk someone for so long without someone (ahem Ann) from noticing.

I made sure to be one of the first people off the boat and I kept an eye out for them. We discretely followed them to the location we prearranged (right on the Fort Wall) and I brought my zoom lens so I could hang back as his proposal unfolded. Anne was supremely surprised and said 'YES'!

Hunter found me on Instagram and said he was planning a surprise proposal but still working out his plan. Little did I know, Hunter, a planner at heart, had a full blown plan to surprise his beautiful girlfriend Ann at the Dry Tortugas National Park. Epic. I mean, totally insanely romantic!

So, fun facts about the Dry Tortugas National Park. It's a park located about 70 miles off of Key West. The ONLY way to get there is by taking a private boat several hours off shore, chartering a sea plane, OR taking the Yankee Freedom Sea Ferry out to the park. Either way, it takes time and coordination. So when he told me this is where he was planning to propose I was blown away and completely on board. We mapped out a plan (where he should propose based on my visits to the park, when he should do it, and how I would go about capturing it without ruining the surprise).

The day of the excursion, I knew all the answers to those questions as well as what Hunter and Ann looked like. I brought a friend with me to help me blend in with the crowd and away we went! We opted to take the Yankee Freedom trip out to the National Park. It takes about 1.5-2hrs to get out there on this boat but it was a dream trip because the water was still and the weather was perfect.

Surprise Proposal at the Dry Tortugas National Park

Once we wrapped up we all headed to the beach to explore the waters, enjoy a sandwich (included in the excursion through Yankee Freedom) and enjoyed the rest of the excursion at the Fort.

It was seriously such a memorable proposal and I am so happy the months of coordination led to a perfectly planned surprise Ann will never forget!

Cheers to Ann & Hunter!

Venue: Fort Jefferson, Dry Tortugas National Park
Planning & Photography: Me!

Look at that ring and those views y'all! The Dry Tortugas National Park has some of the BEST views in the Florida Keys because the water is turqoise and blue and deliciously warm. So imagine seeing vast bright blue tropical waters and then this massive fort which appears to just pop out of the ocean. It's mesmerizing. Plus the water surrounding the Fort is filled with tropical fish and coral, sharks, and sea turtles.

So after the initial shock wore off, we took Ann and Hunter around the park to explore and document their memorable proposal. The results did not disappoint!
